The great search for a mobile email client.
With my favorite email client Astro biting the merger dust and Inbox by Gmail being sacrificed for Gmail I have spent the last few weeks trying to discover a new go-to mobile email client.
Like most people, I have narrowed everything down to Outlook and Gmail although Email by Samsung has been spotted on my screen a few times.
Unlike a lot of Inbox users, I am not anti-Gmail for both have things that I like and a few things I cannot stand. In fact, if the strengths of both apps were combined into a single, I would have a nearly perfect email client. Maybe that's what the people at Google are going for and that the reason they shuttered Inbox.
My main with issue with Gmail as a mobile and desktop client is that sometimes I want only to view my unread emails in a single tab. No update, priority, and promotion tabs just unread. That leaves Outlook which in its mobile iteration checks off many of my needs and adds a great filter to boot. So for the next few weeks, Outlook will be my go-to client.
